Every year an estimated 648,000 people in the U.S. develop infections during a hospital stay, and about 75,000 die, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Similarly, thousands of healthcare workers are forced out of work due to health issues or injuries sustained in the workplace each year. Right now with the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, the impact of the spread of germs and the dire need for disinfectants and eliminating germs in healthcare settings is crystal clear. To combat the spread of germs and eliminate germs and bacteria, here are a few product recommendations to incorporate into your healthcare design:
- Franke Medi-Flo
The Medi-Flo is the industry’s first sink with a Laminar Ozone Chamber. Infusing water with ozone is twice as effective as bleach and kills bacteria 3000 times faster. The 9-inch sink inhibits the formation of biofilms on the sink and waste trap, improves the results of handwashing, and reduces splashing. An infra-red sensor ensures hands are in the optimum place for washing and splash containment and the sensor also triggers a 3-second post-wash to remove any soap residue and keep the sink and trap clean.
Franke now incorporates Medi-Flo’s germ-busting technology into a retrofit ozone faucet. This is ideal in situations where sinks cannot be replaced. The Ozo-Flow water kills germs on demand: keeping germs at bay, and healthcare facilities safe.
2. Powers Intellistation– digital mixing system
With the IntelliStation, facilities managers can remotely monitor and control water temperatures on an easy to read full-color LED touchscreen interface. It is also field-configurable so it does not require the use of a laptop or special software, and can be integrated into a building automation system (BAS). The IntelliStation can digitally regulate temperature to ASSE 1017 within +/-2°F, even during low and zero demand periods and with its precision, reducing energy costs.

It is password protected and configurable on-site, easy to install, and does not require factory pre-programming, a laptop, or special software to download for commissioning or when making adjustments to the valve.
